As a lover of fashion, I love to express myself through my clothing as well as help others figure out what makes them look the best. So I’ve devised five fashion tips that will help you not just look better, but feel better as well!
1.) Colors are Important
When I am picking out an outfit I try to think of a color wheel. The color wheel is important to fashion because you can make sure that the colors you pick blend well together. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different colors to try to make something dope. Treat your body like a canvas and your style as the paint. Fashion is art, and art is another form of expression. So make sure you pick out clothes that you can make the best art you can.
2.) Make sure it fits.
In the fashion world today, the tight aesthetic is in. However, that doesn’t mean get super skinny jeans to make yourself look like you’re about to explode and think, “Yo this is hot.” Wear clothing that you are comfortable in that says, “This is my body and I love it,” whether it’s tight or loose fit. Avoid the sagging pants that sag so much your crotch is dragging against the ground. This isn’t 20001 anymore, folks.
3.) If you look good, you feel good.
Every day when I pick out my outfits, I instantly get a confidence boost. I put in a lot of time into my outfits and I take pride in that because I am a firm believer in the “look good, feel good” mantra. Whether it’s a unicorn shirt with pink pants, or a collared shirt with nice khakis, as long as it builds up your confidence no one can say anything about your outfit. Especially in the Tumblr generation, it can be easy to get caught up in the latest trends that numb our taste buds of style and fashion. So make sure that you are wearing it because you like it and it makes you feel good. Nothing great comes after following trends that you don’t even like.
4.) When in doubt, go black.
If there’s one definitive fashion tip I could give you is: when in doubt, go black. Black is the universal language in the fashion world. Anyone and everyone looks good in black. I’ve had my share of days where I don’t like any of the outfits I’ve picked out and a nice black tee with some blue jeans and never hurt anyone.
5.) None of these tips really matter.
As I was thinking of tips for this article I realized that none of them matter. Whether you want to wear a cape every single day, or look like a human rainbow, wear what makes you happy. If you have street style, cool. If you love Ralph Lauren, sweet. If you shop at Goodwill, even better. The only true advice I can give to you is to be happy with what you wear. Once you figure that out, you’re free to dress however you want.
